R3 is a stand-alone proximity reader/controller which functions as a single door access control solution but can also be easily connected in a RS485 network.

In a RS485 network the R3 continues to function in stand-alone mode and can be maintained by using the R3 Manage software. On-board memory and internal clock allow events to be stored locally and printed on demand. A wireless keypad is available for an increased level of security.

The R3 may also be connected to 3rd party systems using ABA magnetic stripe, Wiegand or RS484. In the network mode, the R3 offers "dynamic switching mode", a unique feature that guarantees a seamless takeover of network functionality should the network experience malfunction. In this situation, all security information is locally stored in the R3, and will be resubmitted to the network once it is back on-line.
